The Batamote and Japonesas Norte projects are contiguous projects covering a total of 3,162 hectares. These projects are located in the Cerro Caliche area of Cucurpe, due north of the Mercedes gold-silver mine in the Sonora district of northern Mexico.
Pembrook signed an option agreement for the Batamote property in May 2011.
Mineralization in the Batamote zone occurs along the contact between a brecciated rhyolite and the host sediment rocks. A short ramp has been driven on the mineralized zone.
Sampling by Pembrook and by others has confirmed the presence of high grade gold along the structural contact; 12.5 grams per tonne Au over 2.5 metres and 0.94 g/t Au over 60.7 metres in the brecciated rhyolite.
Sampling on the Batamote project has returned good gold grades within the rhyolite including 12.5 g/t Au over 2.5 metres, 31 g/t Au over1.0 metres and 0.65 g/t Au over 72 metres including 0.98 g/t Au over 38 metres.
Preliminary soil sampling has demonstrated that the host rhyolite carries 0.1 g/t Au to 2.1 g/t Au in soils over widths of 300 metres to 500 metres.
